WHAT IS BOURNEMOUTH COAST?

Bournemouth COAST is a three-year project that provides training services for people in and around Bournemouth who have learning difficulties. We aim to support people to live more independently and safely, to enjoy and look after their environment.

A number of organisations make up the Partnership and manage the project:
  • Advance Housing and Support
  • The Streetwise Safety Centre (CLICK HERE ....)
  • Bournemouth Council for Voluntary Service
  • A Research Team of people who have learning difficulties
  • Bournemouth University
WHAT DO WE DO?

Provide training courses around the needs of people with learning difficulties.
  • Specialise in training where people learn about real life situations in a safe and fun way, at the Streetwise Safety Centre which is a life size village built inside a warehouse.
  • Offer support to staff, parents and carers, by providing information and advice services that can help adults with learning difficulties to practice their learning where they live, and learn more in the future.
WHO PAYS FOR THE TRAINING?
We are funded partly by The Housing Corporation, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Rayne Foundation. This helps towards the costs of the project and enables people attending to pay a reduced rate of £5.00 per course which includes refreshments and lunch.
